Progressing Through Life

Hey Fam and friends!! It's good to hear from you all!! I love hearing from you guys! Life is pretty the same here. Wet and Hot haha.

Nothing much is going on here which is really hard! We have been contacting and there have been lots of investigators or people that will let us in and listen to our message but they don't progress. I have aquired a new knowledge from this experience that is really crazy. This is how God and Christ feel about us. When we going through life doing just the normal stuff like school, work, just chillin at home, we aren't progressing. We need to continuously be progressing. We need to not only just go to church but go prepared with a preview of what the lessons are gonna be and having the spirit with you so you can progress and be uplifted. During the week try to "feast on the words of Christ" like the scriptures say. I promise that as you do this you will be able to have a new light in your life that you haven't seen or haven't been feeling. As you aquire this light, share it with others so they can be uplifted and have happiness in their lives. The Gospel of Jesus Christ will bless your lives. Read THE SCRIPTURES!!!

Oh also I had to give a talk this past week in sacrament meeting. It was pretty hard to prepare because I didn't have my dad here to write it ;) Kidding I write my own talks but it was hard because I didn't have the talks and normal materials that I normally use to write a talk or lesson. I went to the basics. Scriptures, the Liahona (a church magazine), True to the faith, and my comp. Man I feel like I was uplifted on a topic that I thought I had lots of knowledge on (The Gift of the Holy Ghost). When I prepared it I didn't think I had enough material to talk for at least 10 minutes but I apparently went longer haha. And whenever I give talks I get all nervous and I just plow through my talk and speak really fast. Haha so my spanish is progressing and it's pretty decent but I still have a long ways to go. I felt like I was fluent because the words were flying out of my mouth haha. I know it was the spirit allowing me to remember and know the words necessary to share the message. As weird as it sounds I'm grateful for the experience. The Gospel blesses lives in ways you don't even think it would.

Love you all!

We found a cool bridge so we had a quick photo shoot haha
There's a cool sign with MEZAPA on it so we took pics. Excuse the awkward squatting pose haha
A sweet view of Honduras

On the way to church there was a rotting cow head in the street. You can't not take a pic of that
A nice looking barrel

No Pain No Gain

Not sure why we didn't get a letter last week but I found this in his Sent folder. -Brayden's Dad

Well another weeks passed and I don't know where it went. I love Mezapa! Awe man if only we could go explore the mountains basically out our backdoor that'd be awesome. The nature is so close and so green and so beautiful. I have been able to ponder on how much time and effort God put into creating this world. Utah is pretty don't get me wrong but I feel like there was more time put into this part of the world than in utah hahahaha.

We have some pretty solid investigators. Haha we have one investigator whose name is similar to a terrorist group and it kinda threw me off the first time I heard it. It's really hard to understand them when they say their names so when I found out her name from my comp the next day my mind was blown haha. The cool thing though is that she is totally opposite of terror. She is so nice and is so happy! Everytime we visit she reads what we ask her to (she even marks her scriptures without us saying to... POWERFUL) and keep the commitments. God lead us to her and we can tell that He was preparing her because she has an awesome love for God and doing what's right. If only I could have that much power with me oh man that'd be awesome!

The hard thing here is our investigators don't come to church. If only they could know how powerful the Sacrament is in their lives! I love church so much! Haha I even miss young single adult class hahaha. But what is most important is the first hour of church and I have aquired an increased amount of appreciation for the spirit and blessings that come from the Sacrament. My comp and I get to bless the sacrament everyweek because there aren't that many priesthood holders in the branch here yet but it's awesome! Giving the prayer in spanish is hard but the words and the promises are still the same. Powerful

Funny/Weird story of the week. My comp and I were eating at a member's house and I tried to bless the food in English cuz I hadn't prayed in English for a while but the weird thing is I couldn't do it! haha it was a Spanglish prayer but it was a cool reminder that I have come so far in spanish and that God has been helping me learn it over time. I have been praying and trying to learn spanish and I have been able to learn an immense amount in such a short amount of time. When we put our trust in the Lord he will help us to achieve things we couldn't have imagined. I love blessings from God!!

Love you all

I got a nice tan line from my watch

So the reason for the title of my letter is because of the blister and blood pics. Sorry if it grossed you out.

We had divisions and I got to sleep on that royal throne haha

Quality Life

Ok so there is a problem here in Mezapa and a lot of other places. The electricity isn't very reliable..... So today they power has been out and it just came on. Yay we have power, bummed that I only have a few short minutes to write.

Life is good otherwise! We keep teaching the gospel and the cool thing about the people here is that they are basically all catholic or they belive in God and Christ. I love this because when people believe in God and Christ they have a love for basically everyone. They all are welcoming too!! Holy Cow!! Everytime we go to visit someone or just go to a house they usually bring out two chairs and sometimes they give us the very chairs they were sitting on and then go sit on a ledge or something else......... I'm speachless about that. They ugh man I can believe how generous they are! Definitely something I'm going to work on from this point on.

The message I want to share this week comes from a book called "Our search for happiness" by Elder M. Russel Ballard of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. In this book it explains about the basics of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In fact on the cover it says "An Invintation to understand the Gospel of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints" The part that I want to share is:

"A quality life is one that positively influences others and makes the world around it a better place in which to live. A quality life is one that is constantly growing, expanding its horizons and enlarging its borders. A quality life is one that is filled with love and loyalty, patience and perseverance, kindness and compassion. A quality life is one that is based on eternal potential and not confined to this life only. A quality life is a life well-lived"
I love this paragraph because it is one of those pump up things. To improve and help others and yourself. I challenge you to live a quality life. As you do you will come to realize that you will be happy and others around you will be happy!

Love you all!

Mezapa

Hey friends and fam!! Last time I said I was in the area "Mazapa". Here's some things that go on here:

Transportation is by bus or mototaxi which I have a pic of one. The buses are school buses but they are decked out with all this gear and they have a lot of sayings about God which is cool. It costs about 25 Lempiras to go from Mezapa to Progresso which is where most of the interviews and conferences are. There is a stake center there too which is where we go as a Zone to Ball. It's a pretty nice building.
The streets here are pretty nasty. All dirt roads in mezapa and you can't go more than 5 feet without seeing trash. Pretty sad and gross. They need to do something about it but it doesn't look like there will be anything happening soon. Also there are a bunch of dogs, cows and horses roaming the streets. Pretty weird but I guess it's normal but it's nasty cuz they poop everywhere so that makes walking down the streets pretty interesting.
Showers and flushing the toilet is different here. You have to use a bucket of water to flush the toilet and you have to use a bucket to shower. There's hardly ever pressure here so it's the norm. For some reason the faucets that fill up the sink thingy out back that we wash our clothes in has water for the most part and the faucet that fills our buckets for the shower normally has water. Yesterday was the first day we haven't had water come out of these faucets. Luckily we had the sink thing filled so we have enough but I don't know about for tomorrow so this is going to be interesting haha.
Missionary work is moving along. At least it was for the first two weeks I was here. My second week in we had 2 baptisms. I got to perform one for the younger one and It was a cool experience. It makes me so happy that I can help people recieve this ordinance to become clean and to progress for a new and better life. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is a blessing in everybodies lives. I've learned so much this past two weeks that I wish I could share but I'll just stick to a quick little message.

This past little while has been interesting with it's hard and good times. In times where I have been down are when I have turned to the Lord and let me tell you something. He IS ALWAYS THERE!!! Everytime I've asked for help He has answered my prayer and helped me get through the next few hours or the day or even the next half hour. Whenever you need a friend, Comforter or even someone to talk their ear off Heavenly Father is there 24/7. Yes even at 2:00 in the morning. Please remeber Him because He remembers you and wants to help you as much as he can. All you need to do is ask. I love you all but nothing compares to how much God and Jesus Christ loves you. Always remember that!
(Here's a cool scripture Alma 36:3)
