Pico Bonito

Another week down here in La Ceiba and man was it a week of highs and lows. Well honestly a lot of lows and a few highs but it's good because I get to share the gospel still here in Honduras.

So this week we were struggling to find some investigators because our teaching pool has plummled but the ZL's came and did divisions with us and man did we work hard. They helped us improve our, well they helped us improve everything to be honest. We were able to find lots of people but the follow up appointments were... well.... nobody answered so that was really hard but the good thing is there's still more people waiting to hear. 

Our investigator that has a baptismal date didn't come to church for a second week in a row. We gotta work harder with him to  motivate him to come. He's super good at everything but coming to church which well, that's what's hard for a lot of our investigators.

The two familys that we had we didn't get to visit this week so we were bummed about that. I'm hoping we can find them this next week.

So today we went to Pico Bonito which is a super cool hike. We didn't even get a part way to the top because well it's huge to start and we didn't have much time because it's a ways out there. But we found two waterfalls and well i'll send you some pics to see kinda what it was like. The sad thing is my camera doesn't do it justice

So my comp and i were shooting hoops with my little hoop and he shot it and well that's what's left of our lightbulb......

BBQs and Carnival

This week was filled with a lot of different things that were super weird but not a lot went how we planned.

So we have two investigators that are progressing which is super exciting but this week was kinda rough with them. One of them we went to visit once and we got there and he was super drunk which made us super sad. The sister missionaries passed him over to us and they had been teaching him a couple of times and they got there one lesson and he was wasted and it frightened them. So we got there one day this week and he was drunk and we were super bummed out because he was progressing so much and he said he was ok with the Word of Wisdom and we were actually gonna go to put a baptismal date that day but that fell through....... Good thing there's repentance ;)

Our other investigator that had a baptismal date didn't come to church so we are gonna have to move his date but he's super good and ready so we'll see

This week was the famous carnival in Honduras. It's so popular that people from all over Central America come and so nobody was here to visit but it's ok because they'll be ready to go this week.

In my personal study I was reading conference talks from October because I still haven't gotten the one from april but I was reading the talk from Elder well now President Russel M. Nelson about the Book of Mormon. The part that I like the most was where he said "something powerful happens when a child of God seeks to know more about him and his beloved Son. Nowhere are those truths taught more clearly and powerfully than in the Book of Mormon." That is so true! I love the book of mormon and I know that it is a true book and with it we can become closer to God which is what we need in the world today.

We made some Baleadas with an Hermana. yeah i learned how to make them :)

We went to this place were they make super big Baleadas. That big one is about 1 1/2 feet. IT WAS SUPER HARD TO EAT. But if i finished it another Elder said he'd pay for me.... yeah i finished

We had a BBQ today which was super good. Made some meat and all that good stuff.

Mother's Day

Well this week was a long anticipated week and man did time go by super SLOW. But the day came and it was awesome! Loved seeing you family and love you so much!

So I felt like my last week struggled so I decided to write down highlights of everyday so here they are:

Tuesday: Early in the morning we heard a huge explosion and I thought it was a bomb because it was super loud and there was a loud flash that woke me up. I look at my comp and he's half awake super confused as I was. Long story short it was a van outside of the appartment that something did blow up but they towed it and everything is all good

Wednesday we did divisions and I went to the DL's area which is super small. We walked the whole area in the whole day....... that's not normal. I got home and hit the pillow hard but it was fun

Thursday we had zone Conf which was super good but once again forgot my notes because we were in the center buying and then came straight to write. Notes coming next week. He shared about ways we could improve to find new investigators and how to better help the people here in the area. Notes to come

This week we weren't able to visit our buddy that's on date for baptism which was sad but it was because he went out of town for Mother's day. The hernandez family we couldn't visit as well but we will go find them this week. The Avila family didn't come either because they were busy celebrating mothers day and their mom's birthday so this week was rough with investigators but hopefully this next week improves.

OYYYYYYEEEE!

This week we worked a lot with the members which was cool. I am super glad because without the member's help the work doesn't progress. This week we visited a ton of families with some of the Young men that are about to leave for their missions. It's super cool to see their excitement to get some experience. 

So this week we started to visit some old investigators that my comp had here. They're really positive and we challenged one of them to a baptismal date so hopefully they'll stay strong. 

This Tuesday we went to do service for an investigator. We got a ladder and went onto the roof to clear out the gutters and to cut branches of the trees that were dropping lots of leaves. It was super fun and we used a machete. Good stuff. I love service projects because you just feel good afterwards.

Today we played soccer with the two zones here in La Ceiba. It was super fun and we were sweating a ton but afterwards we had some hamburgers and the destroyed our stomaches so hopefully we don't get sick.
