Tuesday a member invited us for lunch and Woah it was some high quality stuff. It was weird because I felt like i was eating dinner for the type of meal she made but man was it good! While we were eating she says "oh that's right we have an appointment at 5 today with a guy who I met and talked about the church to. I told him we'd come over at 5 today. You don't have anything at 5 right?" haha luckily we didn't have an appointment then. I love this lady because she's very direct with everything. We visited the reference with her and he really likes to listen and he's been reading what we leave for him. He didn't come to church yesterday but we're gonna figure out why because he was pumped to go. He also was asking a lot about baptism and he was content with what we shared. We'll keep y'all updated.
Wednesday I did some exchanges with the other elders here in Trujillo. It was fun and was cool to meet their investigators and to see the other half of Trujillo. The next morning we had to wake up early and head out to a little city/town called Olanchito for exchanges with the ZLs. It wasnt that fun of a ride but it was cool how God helped us arrive. Neither of us knew the way to get there but we asked for a little help and trusted in God and we we saw some cool little miracles. Like my parents have showed me we said a prayer to be protected on our journey and to not have problems. We headed out the door and we were a little late to catch one of the busses and as we're walking a guy passes and gives us a ride to the bus stop and we get there on time (miracle #1). We get there and ask how much the ticket and they said it was 250 Lempiras (which is A TON!) so we decided to find another bus. We walk down the street to another bus company and we find one that will charge 80 to get to the same place. Yeah it was a dinky little thing but we saved L170 so we were pumped(miracle#2). So we start hauling on this bus but it left later than we were wanting so we were pumped. This bus passes the bus we were gonna take and we had explained what happened to the bus helper and as he sees the bus he's like "look were gonna pass the bus!" haha we were laughing. But we got to our midpoint before the other bus (miracle 3). So we get off and the next bus we needed to take comes about 5 min later and we head out to Olanchito. We get there 15 minutes early but we had left late..... Definitely a big miracle right there! We were so grateful for God's help. If it's important to us, it's important to Him.
But exchanges were really fun! For dinner Elder Gallegos (I was with him and I actually will go home with him) and I went to this place where they sold some wings. I got some with some spicy BBQ sauce and they were delicious! They were almost as good as Buffalo Wild Wings. They also had a fruit smoothie drink that was UNREAL! I was so tempted to buy another but I was full so I didn't. But this drink was like drinking Starbursts and awe man I WAS DROOLING! This next change when we head there again I'm definitely gonna order another haha. But we also learned a ton. He gave me a few pointers and things we could improve on as a district. It's gonna be good! Love mah buddy Gallegos. Such a good guy!
Yesterday my Uncle Hno. Thomas (he calls us his nephews now haha) shared the priesthood lesson yesterday and he asked a question that was cool. The lesson was on the Conference talk "Shepherding souls" by Elder Stevenson. It's a good talk so read it. But anyways he asked us "who is a shepherd here?" People said the Bishop but he said no and we were kinda confused. He then said "we all are shepherds". He then went on to explain why. But I love that. We don't need to have a leadership calling to be a shepherd. Our role as members of Christ's restored church is to watch over and protect those within the flock. The Great Shepherd is Jesus Christ. But we are the sheepdogs. We help protect others from danger. Dangers that cause others to stray away from the flock. Watch over your friends and help them uplift them. Help The Great Shepherd in bringing his flock back to the presence of our Heavenly Father.
